Ramblxr (pronounced “rambler”) is the electronic project of acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and producer Elias Alexander, who weaves together traditional music from the Celtic lands with house, disco, bass music and original songs to tell stories of alienation and belonging. Neither a DJ nor a band, Ramblxr is one of those rare performers who achieves full flight using the power of electronics with live instruments. He has been compared to Fred again.., Dirtwire, and FKJ, with a live show that takes audiences on a mind-blowing journey, eliciting everything from wild dancing to tears. The show highlights Elias’s skill as a consummate performer with a unique ability to connect with and move a crowd.
In the 2010s Elias Alexander made a name for himself as one of America’s finest exponents of Scottish traditional music, touring nationally and internationally with numerous groups and playing top folk and Celtic festivals. He currently tours with legendary Scottish folk group Old Blind Dogs.
In the early lockdowns of 2020, Elias found himself blending the traditional acoustic music of his youth with house, disco, hip-hop, and lo-fi sounds. Titling the project Ramblxr, he emerged onto stages in 2021, taking festivals by storm with standout performances at Oregon Country Fair, BlissFest, Portland Pride, Sisters Folk Fest, Bellingham Folk Festival, and many others.
Three Ramblxr singles have been released so far, with the most recent, “Wildflower” premiering on The Bluegrass Situation. A fourth single entitled “Right Now” will be released early in 2024, followed by a full album in the spring.
